Corrections and Edits to the Orchestral Score

Page/System/Bar locators refer to the 1905 Bessel edition of the score

1.124 (Pg 11, Sys 2, Bar 5), 2nd Clarinet (in A) should play G♯ (sounding F) rather than G♮, consonant with vocal score and Violin 1 part (and similar to previous measures)
1.232 (18/2/8), suggest Violins and Violas as well as Celli be marked senza sord.
1.256 (20/2/3), Violin I, 5th note should be D♮, not E♮.
1.315 (25/3/6), Celli and Basses: have added slur on first two notes of bar; only a suggestion, remove as thought appropriate
1.365 (31/2/1), Bass should start quaver–quaver–semiquaver rest–semiquaver conforming to Bassoon and Cello, not quaver–dotted quaver
1.483 (Pg 40, Fig 31), all moving parts, 5th and 7th notes should be G♭, not G♮. Should be corrected in vocal score as well.
1.798 (65/3/1), Bassoon, Celli and Basses: penultimate note should be C♮. Should be corrected in vocal score as well.
2.66 (78/1/3–4), added accents to timpani strokes
2.170 (87/1/5), Horn 1 should play G♯—G♮ (concert C♯—C♮) as per the voice and Clarinet 1. (correct in 1955 ed.)
2.202 (90/1/2), Celli/Basses, 5th note should be B♮
3.272 (139/1/2) Harp tuning should be C♭, D, E♯, F, G♯, A♭, (correct in 1955 ed.)
3.277 (Pg 139, the bar before 98), 2nd Clarinet should be G♮ (sounding E♮) not the written G♭. (correct in VS)
3.297 (141/1/2), Viola, 1st note should probably be C♮, not E♮. (corrected in 1955 ed.)
3.309 (141/2/6), Clarinet 1 should be C♮, sounding B♭. (Also wrong in 1955 ed.)
3.314 (142/1/4), Cello, penultimate note should be E♮, not E♯
3.337 (144/1/1 et seq.), suggest timpanist tremolo between notes if only one player
3.372 (147/2/2), the Horn stave, the third note is written as a doubly dotted crotchet. This makes the bar too long, in that it does not add up. It should be a quaver tied to a dotted quaver, followed by the octave semiquaver. (correct in 1955 ed.)
3.416 (152/2/1), Viola, 6th notes should be D/B, octave below Violins, not E♭/C
3.422 (153/1/1), Violin 1, changed marking col legno al segno to col legno al arco.
3.436 (154/1/2), Clarinet 2, changed G♮ sounding F♮ to G♯ sounding F♯.
